My mother tells this story about me that at the age of 2 years old I was drawing dresses for my dolls, she said I would concentrate so hard that my tongue would stick out and she would walk around the house and tell everyone “Shhhh, there’s an artist at work”. I obviously had a love of Art at a very young age.
Throughout school Art was my favorite class and I went beyond the classes offered in High school and ended up doing independent studies my senior year. I went to community college and was working on my Associates degree in Arts but I didn’t finish, instead I got a day job in the medical field and got an online degree in Interior decorating and truth be told never did anything with it.
I let my art slide away from me as life got more in the way and turned to doing crafty things and then in 2019, I started painting on glass jars and I realized I was good at it. I had a friend take me to a glass fusing class and I fell in love with that and started thinking about how I can combine the two and make great art. This is how my canvas became glass and from there I continued to work on my skills and that has got me to where I am now. The next part was taking the steps to share my work with the world…scary, I know but at the age of 52 I did my first show and that year I ended up doing a showing every month solid. The following year I took my time with the shows so I can complete new work to share and I had many commission pieces to complete. I have 100 % enjoyed my journey!
Art is who I am, it’s in my blood. I wake up thinking about it and go to sleep thinking about it. I Art so those who do not, can find joy though my eyes and heart and if you ask me, Art is my favorite color!
